The Story

I've been going hiking up at Mount Seymour for the past couple months. Partly to help me get in shape and partly to take advantage of what Vancouver offers. I started at the bottom of the mountain and usually did a 2 hour trip that took me up about 2500 feet and covered about 10 kilometres. Lately I've been going further up the mountain, this time I went up to Goldie Lake. Lake is generous term for it, its more like a large pond.

Goldie Lake is about 30-40 minutes on foot away from the ski operations but on this day the area of was completely silent. No engines, no planes, no horns. The only sounds were those generated by the rather large insects buzzing around me. Flower Lake (an even greater misnomer) is also nearby but I was tired and chose to leave this time.

On the way up I stopped at the Deep Cove lookout. It's a beautiful place to look around, not as nice as the Saanich Bay lookout but still something worth checking out if only to see the layer of smog we've placed out over the inlet.
